Thermodynamics of a heavy-ion-irradiated superconductor: The zero-field transition
نویسندگان
چکیده
Specific heat measurements show that the introduction of amorphous columnar defects considerably affects the transition from the normal to the superconducting state in zero magnetic field. Experimental results are compared to numerical simulations of the three-dimensional XY model for both the pure system and the system containing random columnar disorder. The numerics reproduce the salient features of experiment, showing in particular that the specific heat peak changes from cusplike to smoothly rounded when columnar defects are added. By considering the specific heat critical exponent , we argue that such behavior is consistent with recent numerical work A. Vestergren et al., Phys. Rev. B 70, 054508 2004 showing that the introduction of columnar defects changes the universality class of the transition.

We study numerically the electronic heat capacity, spin and charge current in a diffusive Superconductor-Ferromagnetic-Superconductor systems، with singlet superconducting leads and non-uniform ferromagnetic layer. Specially, we focus on ferromagnetic layer with domain wall and conical structures incorporation the spin-active interfaces. We investigate, how the 0-π transition is influenced by n...

The deleterious effects of disorder are amplified in lower dimensions, where long-range coherence is, at best, only marginally stable. A case in point is the destruction of superconductivity in ultrathin granular' and continuous metal films. The disorder is parametrized by the film sheet resistance and the data suggest a zero-temperature threshold for quenching global superconducting coherence ...
متن کاملDynamics and Thermodynamics of Phase Transition in Hot Nuclei
The dynamics and thermodynamics of phase transition in hot nuclei are studied through experimental results on multifragmentation of heavy systems (A≥ 200) formed in central heavy ion collisions. Different signals indicative of a phase transition studied in the INDRA collaboration are presented and their consistency is stressed.

Lattice QCD allows us to simulate QCD at non-zero temperature and/or densities. Such equilibrium thermodynamics calculations are relevant to the physics of relativistic heavy-ion collisions. I give a brief review of the field with emphasis on our work.
